I may have forgotten to mention this, but…

I finished the first draft of the Unemployed Sidekick movie. Sent it out to some trusted friend for feedback, and once I get that back, I’ll start making changes. It is really satisfying to have written a feature length script, and I’m looking forward to making a ton of changes!

Spending my night with The Muppets, The Avengers (before they assemble), and writing some Unemployed Sidekick.

I did a read through of the (almost) complete Unemployed Sidekick feature script yesterday, and it went very well. Everyone’s favorite new character is The Bulk, who treats getting mad like some sort of weird drug habit.
Joe Hunter might be right when he tweeted at me the other day, maybe we should do a Kickstarter to get this feature made…

A little more dialogue from the Unemployed Sidekick feature I am writing.

A look into the script for the Unemployed Sidekick feature I am currently writing. Here Raven seeks help from a new character: Superior Man.
SPOILER ALERT: Things don’t work out.

This is what happens when you’re writing a script, but your bulldog wants to jump on the keyboard. Lots of V’s.

Just a heads up, I’m going to be updating my progress on this through DailyDCU.com:

Well, I started writing the script for UNEMPLOYED SIDEKICK: THE MOVIE tonight, and boy am I having fun. Act One is essentially episodes one through twelve of the webseries, but I’ve made some changes already. Want to know what they are? Well:
Add Raven telling a sort of origin story that uses stock footage between episodes one and two.
More death traps/character development in The Clown episode.
Scene where Raven and cameraman meet up before shopping.
Linds and Raven’s meet up at the coffee shop has some more meat to it.
Raven and Clue go out to a bar after he tackles him (very extended).
Lindsey is developed more, and mentions she has no idea who Raven is.
Giant Zombie fight scene.

So yea, these things are really happening… in the script anyway.

Unemployed Sidekick

I cannot express how good it has felt returning to this universe. Some of the ideas going into the feature script are new, but most are concepts that were discussed fully with Matt, Creighton, and Kyle when this project was in its infancy around two years ago. Who knows if we will shoot this, but it feels good to get these thoughts out on paper… It may shock all of them to learn who dies and how it happens.

One year ago today I had the distinct honor of debuting the web series Unemployed Sidekick to the loyal fans of DailyDCU.com and to the world wide web. I am so very proud of all 22 episodes of the series’ “season one” and hope to make “season two” some day down the road. This was a pure collaboration of a regular “who’s who” of the Tumblr community.  Nerdology’s Creighton Desimone, director Matthew Pollock, and I mapped out the first season together, then like any project we made it all happen. It wasn’t always easy, but it surely was always fun! And how could it not be fun when working alongside actor Kyle Kirkpatrick as Raven?  Being able to write this series was like penning a love letter to the superhero genre that has given me so much, and I want to thank all the fans for watching. For those who haven’t, what are you waiting for? Above is Episode 1: Meet Raven, but you can watch episodes 2-22 atUneployedSidekick.com.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing artists take on Raven. I shall turn things over to Henry Alexander to explain who this character is:

Bizninja strikes again!  This time with Raven from the formidable web series Unemployed Sidekick (at the request of Mary Dan).

Once you are done marveling at the Bizninja’s skills, you will go watch it.  Because it is better than you.

That is some awesome fan art! Nothing is better than seeing people adapt your creation. Thanks Bizninja!

Here’s a little doodle I did in response to Henry Alexander’s challenge to ‘Draw Yourself Face-to-Face with Your Hero.’  I drew this last night, but haven’t had time to make a better one yet.
If you can’t tell, it’s Raven from Unemployed Sidekick (partially because I can’t remember what Nightraven looks like and partially because well, he’s awesome.)  It was a toss-up between many characters and I finally just decided to pick Raven.  And why not?  He’s the best!
However… Raven looks a little derpy.  (Because it’s from memory and all…)  So I plan on making a better one soon.  Whether or not I follow through … is another story.
Also, check out Scott’s!  His is cool because it’s JIM HENSON who is basically one of the greatest human beings EVER and Scott himself is rad.
Double also, if you don’t know what Unemployed Sidekick is, you really need to check it out because it is one of my favorite things.  If you like superheroes and superhero humor, it’s like all your dreams come true.
